Maxxis - summer tyres 2026 - market overview, tests, reviews

Compare Maxxis summer tyres made in your size:

We have selected just a few Maxxis summer tyres from the wide range offered, based on the most recent independent tests. The choice reflects models that have been tested several times or that represent a new generation; it is not a comprehensive catalog of every Maxxis fitment or size.

Maxxis Victra Sport 5
The Victra Sport 5 is the most established of the three here and shows the strongest overall test record. Across recent test programs (Sportauto, ACE, Autobild, Die Reifentester) it earns praise for precise, dynamic dry handling and good lateral grip on wet surfaces. Sportauto highlighted very good dry performance, spontaneous turn-in and a secure, dynamic feel in change-of-direction maneuvers; ACE recommended the tyre and Die Reifentester rated it well. Weaknesses mentioned by several testers are somewhat long wet braking distances in some sizes, a slightly delayed turn-in on certain surfaces and relatively high rolling resistance. Autobild also noted a reduced expected tread life in some applications. Overall test-based picture: a capable UHP summer tyre that performs best when sporty handling and traction are priorities, but with compromises in rolling efficiency and longevity.

Maxxis Victra Sport 5 VS5 SUV
The VS5 SUV is the SUV-specific variant derived from the Sport 5 family. Test results are mixed: Automotorsport rated it “good” for balanced wet performance, secure aquaplaning behaviour and precise handling, but pointed out comparatively long braking distances on both wet and dry surfaces and the highest rolling resistance in that comparison. Autobild’s SUV test results were more reserved (“satisfactory”), mentioning good traction on loose surfaces (gravel, sand) and a low purchase price, but noting understeer tendencies and prolonged wet braking. In short, the VS5 SUV can be an attractive budget-conscious choice for SUV drivers who value traction on unpaved surfaces, but it trades off braking performance and rolling resistance versus some premium SUV tyres. The model’s aggregate test rating is moderate.

Maxxis Victra Sport 6
The Victra Sport 6 is the newest model in the line-up and is being introduced as the next-generation Sport tyre in some markets; it should be considered the apparent successor to the Sport 5 where Maxxis has rolled it out. Independent test coverage is still limited so far: only preliminary entries appear in recent test programs and full verdicts are not yet widely available. Early indicators show a mid-range score, but more comprehensive test results (wet and dry braking, wear and rolling resistance across sizes) are still needed before a definitive assessment. If you currently run the Sport 5 and are considering an update, watch for additional Sport 6 tests to confirm whether it improves on the Sport 5’s known trade-offs.

How to read these results
- If you prioritize sharp dry handling and sporty feel, the Victra Sport 5 is the best-proven choice among these.
- If you drive an SUV and want a cost-competitive tyre with good loose-surface traction, the VS5 SUV is worth considering but expect compromises in braking and fuel efficiency.
- If you prefer the newest generation, the Victra Sport 6 is the model to watch, but wait for fuller independent test coverage before replacing a known-good Sport 5 fitment.

In short: the Sport 5 stands out on balance in current tests; the VS5 SUV is a budget-oriented SUV option with mixed wet-braking performance; and the Sport 6 is the incoming model that currently needs more independent test data to confirm its strengths and any improvements over its predecessor.
